Here is what Rhonda Day Kooy, a shamanic healing practitioner and the owner of Blue Feather Books in LaGrange, wrote about her experience at last year's retreat:

Recently, I had the pleasure of going on a retreat with my dear friends. The three of us, along with approximately 30 others, were in for a retreat of a lifetime. The wonderful ceremonial weekend, which was held in the homeland of the Anishinabeg tribe in Michigan, was offered by our beloved Lama Lobsang Palden.
Lama and his devoted wife, along with other helpers, created many Eight Medicine Buddha altars, so that we could be imbued with the spirit of what we were privileged to be in. Lama had in fact made a temporary temple.
Our wonderful weekend included Lama's Yantra yoga (which in my opinion is by far the best). It includes meditation, mudras, breathing and chanting. Our community of crossroad friends deepened as Lama showed us how tormas (devotional figures made from butter and dough) are made. We also learned how to work with stones and energy for healing others. Our hosts fed us healthy, wonderful food and truly created sacred space.
We performed an outdoor Fire Puja and destroyed our ignorance (or at least some of it ...I hope). In the midst of this collaboration, some of the local Native Americans shared their traditional regalia with dance, drumming and song to welcome us to their place of origin. This was an amazing moment of recognizing again the gift of the ONE people mind set. We are one, connected to the all that is and the all that will ever be.
Collectively we enjoy and embrace Lama and his teachings, and our hearts were sent back to continue the work. Lama is humble, kind and loving—a teacher with patience and compassion for his students beyond comprehension. Bless you and your family, Lama, for all the gifts you share.
     Aho!
