About Blue Beryl Dharma Center

         Tashi Delek! Thank you for your interest in Blue Beryl Dharma Center, a Rime Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Center. BBDC was founded in 2003 by Lama Lobsang Palden, Patricia Palden, and a Board of Directors. BBDC began in St. Louis, Missouri, and was Missouri's first and only Tibetan Buddhist Center directed by a resident lama from Tibet.
        BBDC is a charitable and educational organization. It was formed to provide a space for Tibetan Buddhist practice and to help preserve Tibetan culture. Blue Beryl moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 2004 where it was Chicago's first and only Dharma Center with a specific emphasis on Medicine Buddha and Tibetan Healing.
         The center was named Blue Beryl because of its emphasis on Medicine Buddha and Tibetan healing. The name "Blue Beryl" refers to the earliest known illustrated treatise on Tibetan medicine, "The Blue Beryl Treatise," created during the 17th century by Sangye Gyamtso. The original paintings from The Blue Beryl Treatise hung on the walls of Tibet's first medical college, Chagpoori Medical Institute.

Blue Beryl Dharma Center's Mission: To promote and perpetuate Tibetan Buddhist teachings, practices, and culture. To provide for the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism. To uphold traditional Tibetan healing practices such as Tibetan Yantra Yoga and Medicine Buddha Meditation. To support Tibetan culture through financial support of Tibetan cultural and religious organizations.
